Man Ray | Lampshade
Man Ray’s Lampshade (Spiral), 1964. Originally envisioned in 1919 during Man Ray’s New York years, Lampshade began as a delicate paper spiral fashioned from a broken lampshade. Though the original was lost before it could be exhibited, the work was later reimagined in 1964 as a painted aluminum sculpture, produced in an edition of 100 by Edition MAT. This version is documented in Sculptures et Objets, Objets de mon affection (1983, cat. no. 12) and can be found in various museum collections.
