Constance Kamens Fine Art delivers informed art appraisals. As a Certified Member of the Appraisers Association of America, she provides USPAP compliant appraisals, all carefully reviewed, in the areas of Modern, Post-war, and Contemporary Art. Additionally, Constance Kamens is qualified and experienced in Impressionist Art, Latin American Art, and Contemporary Photography, with extensive expertise gained through years of scholarly research and professional practice.

Constance Kamens has worked with auction houses, architects and decorators, law firms, museums, art financing companies, real estate companies, and private collectors both in the areas of consultation and evaluation.  She has been recommended and done appraisal work for the private clients of Wells Fargo Insurance, AXA Insurance, Chubb Insurance, ACE Fire Underwriters Insurance, and has specifically worked for the Supreme Court of NY County, hedge funds, various companies, private individuals, trusts and estates.

Appraisals are necessary for the following:

  • Fine Arts Insurance

  • Inventory Valuation

  • Estate Valuation

  • Equal Distribution

  • Charitable Donations

  • Gift and Estate Taxes

The IRS will only accept estate and charitable donation appraisals prepared by a qualified appraiser, defined in IRS publication 561, as an individual who has earned an appraisal designation from a recognized professional appraiser organization, and who has demonstrated competency in valuing the type of property appraised. The Appraisers Association of America is one of the appraiser organizations recognized by the IRS.

Constance Kamens Fine Art advises collectors on the acquisition and sale of individual works or entire collections, always taking into consideration the client’s personal goals and requirements.  Constance Kamens especially enjoys working with and guiding collectors of all levels: from beginners to those of seasoned experience. In today’s art world prices can fluctuate greatly, and it’s important to be guided by people of integrity, knowledge and experience. CKFA fulfills all of those requirements.  

CKFA also possesses sufficient appraisal experience to guide prospective buyers and sellers in understanding the value of a work of art at the different levels in today’s complex market. Ms. Kamens deals mostly in privately owned works that are fresh to the market and always in a very discreet fashion. Her services extend to galleries, as well as museums, in addition to assisting individual private collectors. She can also offer sound advice to people seeking to buy or sell at auction as well. Constance Kamens accepts works on consignment in a similarly discreet fashion and her commission rates are competitively modest.
